Oh! What a Day!

Today April 29th, 2011 I went to bed at 8:45AM.  Yes.  I was up watching with the rest of the world what little girls (and big girls) dream of; a prince marrying his princess. From the timely fashionable arrivals to the pinnacle of a beautiful day in history, I was glued to the TV.  Snapshots of The Royal Wedding will be lingering on TV like leftover Thanksgiving dinners, therefore lets move on to the important stuff, the fascinators!!

Let's just say that I am desperately seeking for some newly engaged Brit friends. I MUST wear a fascinator, like this weekend! Fascinators are those "silly" hats fancy, pompous British women wear on special occasions. In the states you can spot some of these at the Kentucky Derby and often at southern churches.  I really don't like how some people refer to them as silly. Those hats are NOT silly!!

These hats are sure to become the new must have accessory. It's definately one for me.  Soon websites and magazines will have their list of "best and worst" hats at the Royal Wedding and honestly for me their isn't a best or worst list.  The thing with fascinators is that they have to make sense with the rest of the outfit. Whether it is the color, style  or shape there has to be a seamless coordiantion from head to toe.

If you would like to purchase one, here is an Etsy store with some super cool choices.  And another one here.  If you've got a fat wallet, ehem, purse then you can always work with a hatter in designing your own.

Here are some of my faves from the Royal Wedding.

My absolute FAVE!!!! Call me crazy!

Can you picture these FAB ladies just about to gossip? I can.

Another Closet Drooling Moment

I've had a clipping of Kimora Lee's closet when she lived in her gigantic mansion in NY with Russell Simmons as one of my closet inspirations for years. She has one of the biggest LV collection in the world and although I am not in love with her fashion sense, I envy her closet space. But then again I'd be more than glad to wear all of her stuff if she were having a closet giveaway!!

She now lives in a smaller mansion in LA with her new hubby and kids. Her closet is smaller but her collection is still amazing. Check it out!!

The Magic of Judith Leiber

I won't blame you if you have never heard of Judith Leiber, after all her masterpieces are at a budget that I presently do not find myself in! However, her creations are the things that fashion loving girls, like myself can only dream of. Understand, that I am a fashion lover, but I am not a slave to fashion. I will admit to having spent WAY over my means for a fabulous designer handbag, or two, but designer no more!! I am at a different place in my life and the appreciation for finer things in life will have to wait :(

I don't mean to bore you with the Wikipedia details on this artisan, but I have to educate you a little bit, just a little bit. Judith Leiber is a Hungarian immigrant who has worked with major handbag designers.  She launched her own handbag company in 1947 alongside her husband. When a handbag is worth a place at The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Smithsonian Institute in Washington, The Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Los Angeles Museum of Art, then you know it's gotta be a helluva a bag.

The bags are small quirky concoctions of gorgeous, sparkly, blingy, crystals in all kinds of fun shapes. The company prides itself on quality and great craftsmanship.  You can spot a Judith Leiber on practically every red carpet event.  Someday you and I will carry one too!!

Unforgettable Women

There are certain women whose names will forever live on.  This is my list of the women who have made a name for themselves in their own way. Whether they are bombshells, material girls or stylish icons, every fashionista needs to be familiar with these ladies.

Even if we did not have the chance to live in their generation, they have contributed so much to fashion. There are certain outfits or looks that will forever be associated with these women and that to me that is a timeless contribution.

Sophia Loren

"A woman's dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view." Sophia Loren

Audrey Hepburn

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles." Audrey Hepburn

Madonna

"I'd love be a memorable figure in the history of entertainment in some sexual, comic, tragic way.  I'd like to leave the impression that Marilyn Monroe did, to be able to arouse so many different feelings in people." Madonna

Marilyn Monroe

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."  Marilyn Monroe

How about you? Who is your favorite unforgettable woman?
